A judge taken to hospital after being trampled by a cow at the Fife Show near Cupar on Saturday is expected to make a full recovery, organisers of the show have confirmed.
The incident happened at around 10am as judging took place in the ring.
The man was admitted to Ninewells Hospital in Dundee after suffering what were described as minor injuries to his back.
Fife Show secretary Hilary Lumsden said: “The show is providing every support to the family and has been informed that he suffered lower back damage and he will make a full recovery.
“The show continually assesses risk and has an extensive health and safety policy in place.”
The Health And Safety Executive has said it is investigating. Mrs Lumsden confirmed a record number of visitors attended this year’s show at Kinloss Farm.
She said the warm and dry day made up for the challenging weather conditions of the previous three years.
As a registered Scottish charity and a non-profit organisation, the Fife Agricultural Association is run by a group of around 35 volunteers who meet throughout the year to plan the show, then come together in the two weeks before it to put everything in place.
Judges, stewards and helpers provide help at what is a hotly anticipated community event. Organisers are also on the lookout for keen committee members and/or helpers to build on the success of this year’s show.
