Kelty’s ‘Old Firm’ put rivalry aside for fundraiser

The Old Firm became firm friends to raise £5,000 and help a Kelty spina bifida sufferer remain in her family home.
Kelty Celtic clashed with Kelty Rangers at the weekend in a charity football match involving Old Firm fans who had lived in the village.
They were raising money for Jemma Gray, 35, who has problems with one of her arms and both her legs and requires specialist equipment to live with her family.
Event organiser Andy Mitchell said: “She rarely stays with her family these days due to both her legs and one arm failing her.
“Her family can no longer manage without the equipment we hope to be able to get for them. By raising this money we hope Jemma will be able to stay with her family at home permanently.”
The game, which Kelty Celtic won 6-1, was played at the home of Kelty Hearts, Central Park, and was attended by a crowd of around 250 people.
The fundraising match was first held last year when the organisers raised £700 in aid of Kelty gala.
