The skirl of the pipes heralded the opening of this year’s Cupar Highland Games on Saturday.

One of the newer games on the circuit, the Cupar event in Duffus Park only began in 1979 but is now recognised as a major event in the calendar.

Crowds from across Scotland watched a flag being hoisted in memory of the late council park keeper Bert Patrick, who was instrumental in the preparation of the park for the games for many years.Click here for a full photo galleryUnder the watchful eye of chieftain Euan Barbour, there were events for both adults and children.
