The first foodbank to be based in central Fife will open for business on Friday.
The public were given the chance to have a look around the foodbank at the Crosshill Centre, which will help families and individuals suffering from hardship.
The service has been organised by Benarty Community Council in response to demand from desperate locals forced to travel to Dunfermline for food parcels. In one instance a foodbank user walked 12 miles from Ballingry to Dunfermline.
The community council is working with the Trussell Trust which runs the foodbank in Dunfermline.
Chairman Stephen Nardone said people visit a foodbank after being referred by places such as health centres or job centres and the open day allowed them to see how the system works.
The Benarty foodbank will be based in the BRAG Business Centre, Main Street, Crosshill, and will also cater for people from the Lochgelly and Cardenden areas.
The foodbank will open for clients between 4pm and 6pm.
