They’ll be casting off more than their anchors on the Forth next month.
Inhibitions, not to mention a shirt or skirt or two, will be cast off as well in celebration of the half century of the country’s largest naturist organisation.
Fife’s been well acquainted with the Naked Rambler but, for something new, 80 nudists will tackle some naked sailing in the shadow of that icon of Victorian engineering, the Forth Bridge.
To celebrate British Naturism’s 50th anniversary, there will be a three-hour evening boat trip on the Forth.
The organisation, which promotes the benefit of healthy social nudity and campaigns for a greater acceptance of this way of life, has chartered the Forth Belle which will leave from South Queensferry on Saturday July 5.
The boat has a large covered saloon as well as lots of outside deck space for those hardy enough to bare all to the elements.
The plan is to have a barbecue on deck and provide live music in the form of a jazz band.
It is open to all comers, in particular former and prospective members.
This is the most northerly in a series of UK-wide events being organised by the body formed in 1964 through a merger of the British Sunbathing Association and the Federation of British Sun Clubs.
Earlier this year there was a Scottish weekend including a Burns in the Buff evening in Dunoon as well as a petanque tournament at a large naturist club in Horfolk.
