A charity family fun day was held in Beveridge Park on Saturday to raise money to help injured soldiers and their families.
The event was organised by Janette Binnie in memory of her son Sean, a Black Watch soldier who was killed in Afghanistan in 2009.
Acting sergeant Binnie, a member of the 3rd Battalion, the Royal Regiment of Scotland, was only 22 when he was killed in Helmand Province during a fight with insurgents in May 2009.
The event raised money for the Invicta Foundation, which provides emotional and practical help through its Forces Families Advice Bureau (FFAB).
The Beveridge Park event hosted a range of different activities, including fairground rides, trampolines, slides, face painting, children’s entertainers, henna tattoos and a fun zone.
Mrs Binnie said: “I want people to realise that the reason why we can all come together like this is because the boys have given up their lives for them, and we should all make the most of our time together.”
