A man has been jailed for life for the murder of Fife teenager Hazel North.
John Davis killed the 19-year-old during a ‘brutal and sustained’ attack in his flat in Kilmarnock and buried her body in the town’s Dean Park earlier this year.
A massive police search was launched after the teenager was reported missing from her home in Dunfermline in March.
Her family also started a social media campaign to trace her.
Davis admitted murdering the teen and dumping her body in a shallow grave during his appearance at the High Court in Glasgow on Tuesday.
The 26-year-old was in an ‘on-off’ relationship with his victim and had recently been released from prison for assault at the time of the murder.
The court also heard he had bragged to friends at the time of the killing, telling one of them, “I done her in and buried her”.
The killer has been ordered to serve at least 20 years before being eligible for release.
