A man has died following a fire at a block of flats in Dunfermline on Saturday morning.
The 42-year-old, who has not been named, died following the blaze at Skibo Court at around 11am.
Emergency crews rushed to the first-floor property but were unable to save the man.
A Police Scotland spokesman said: “Police in Fife responded along with other emergency services to a fire in Dunfermline at around 11am on Saturday 5 July.
“As a result of this incident, which happened at an address in Skibo Court, a 42-yearold man was pronounced dead at the scene.
“Enquires into the fire are ongoing.”
A lone police officer stood outside the building this afternoon, while a fire investigation team began its work.
The busy New Row had been closed to traffic while fire crews tackled the blaze, which has seen the block evacuated of residents for the day.
