Mother back in court to face Mikaeel Kular murder charge
ByGraeme Ogston
The mother of three-year-old Mikaeel Kular has made her first public court appearance charged with his murder.
Rosdeep Kular, 34, who appeared under her married name of Adekoya, is also accused of attempting to defeat the ends of justice.
Dressed in black and wearing glasses, Kular spoke only to confirm her name at a brief preliminary hearing at Edinburgh High Court.
Kular is alleged to have repeatedly punched her son on the head and body, caused his body to strike against a hard object, inflicted blunt force trauma injuries on his head and body and failed to seek medical attention for him at the family’s flat in Edinburgh between January 12 and 15 this year.
She is also accused of wrapping Mikaeel’s body in a duvet cover, placing the body in a suitcase, transporting the suitcase in a car and concealing it in woodland in Kirkcaldy.
Kular made no plea or declaration and the case was continued to a further hearing on July 25. She was remanded in custody.
