A pair of young men from St Monans who assaulted police officers following an incident in a hotel have appeared in court.
Jeff Wood, 20, of Johnstones Close, appeared alongside Jonathan Whyte, 18, of East Street, at Dundee Sheriff Court.
Wood admitted assaulting a man by punching him on the head at the Mayview Hotel, St Monans, on June 8 and behaving in a threatening and abusive manner there by shouting, acting aggressively and making threats of violence.
He also admitted that, later the same day, at East Street, St Monans, he assaulted a police officer by butting him, punching him on the head and biting his finger, all to the officer’s injury.
Whyte admitted that, on June 8, at East Street, he had assaulted a police officer by pushing him, attempting to kick him and causing him to fall, all to his injury.
Whyte also admitted acting in a racially aggressive manner towards a police officer by using racially abusive language and making threats of violence.
Sheriff Elizabeth Munro remarked “What a charming pair” before remanding them both in custody until their next court appearance, which will be on Tuesday July 29.
