A Buckhaven man has been jailed for 32 months after permanently disfiguring his partner by hitting her with a glass.
Robert Stewart, 33, who was also put on a 12-month supervised release order, chased down the mother of his three children and assaulted her after she threw away his vodka bottle.
He repeatedly struck her with a glass, which shattered over her, then kicked her on the ground as she screamed in agony.
He then dragged her by her hair back into the caravan the couple shared on Shore Street, Buckhaven, as she was bleeding heavily from cuts caused by the attack.
At Kirkcaldy Sheriff Court, Sheriff James Williamson blasted Stewart for what he described as a “shocking and prolonged assault”.
Stewart admitted assaulting a woman and punching her on the head, repeatedly striking her on the body with a glass or similar instrument, repeatedly kicking her on the body and dragging her along the ground.
The woman was left with a 2cm wound to her upper right arm, a 4cm wound in her right forearm and a 2cm wound near her right wrist.
Doctors also discovered fragments of glass embedded in her arm and she has been left with permanent scarring.
Depute fiscal Susan Dickson said that at the time of the assault, Stewart and his partner of eight years were living together in the caravan.
On October 4 last year Stewart returned to the caravan drunk and proceeded to strike his partner in the face.
His partner had poured out the contents of a vodka bottle and a glass and threw them on to grass outside.
When Stewart returned, his partner attempted to retrieve the bottle and glass only for him to chase and catch her when he discovered his alcohol in the caravan was gone.
