A motorcyclist has died following a crash involving three other vehicles in north-east Fife.
The accident happened just outside St Michaels on the A919 just before 5pm on Monday.
A red Volvo, a silver Honda, a campervan and the motorbike were all involved in the accident, which took place at around 4.50pm.
The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene.Nobody else was hurt in the crash.
The road between the town and Leuchars was shut for several hours as crash scene investigators combed the accident site.
Brian Morgan, a Police Scotland sergeant in charge of the scene, told The Courier: “The motorcyclist involved was pronounced dead at the scene and we are in the process of contacting next of kin.
“Three other vehicles were involved and we have closed the road for several hours to allow investigations to take place.
“We are appealing for witnesses and ask anyone who may have seen the accident to contact Police Scotland on 101.”
Debris from the crash could still be seen on the road several hours after the incident as investigators worked to establish the circumstances surrounding the crash.
Numerous police officers attended the scene and sealed off the road while the investigations were carried out.
Traffic for Leuchars and St Andrews was diverted via Balmullo.
