West Fife had the highest number of reported rapes in Scotland over the last year.
Shocking new statistics showed there were 102 reports from the area which includes Dunfermline, Cowdenbeath and the west Fife villages over a 14-month period between April last year and this May.
During the same period the whole of Fife saw 222 reports lodged with Police Scotland the same as Glasgow.
The new figures come shortly after a police report which acknowledged reports of rape were increasing.
In Police Scotland’s first year in operation, the number of alleged rapes rose by more than a fifth to around 1,700.
While west Fife topped the list, other areas of concern included Dundee, with 87 reports and Perth and Kinross and central Fife where authorities both received 69 reports.
However, Detective Superintendent Louise Raphael, the head of Police Scotland’s new national rape task force, warned figures should be treated with caution.
She explained the information showed when crimes were reported, not when they may have been committed.
And she said data could include many crimes reported by one person and those could have happened over a long timescale.
Coupled with the fact only 19% of rapes against adults were reported, the task force had found it challenging to pinpoint seasonal or geographic trends in attacks.
“We want to see more reporting to the police because if we don’t have that then we can’t properly understand the nature of the crime and the casual factors,” she added.
