The family of Allan Bryant Jnr have announced plans for a candlelit vigil to mark the first anniversary of his disappearance.
The 24-year-old from Glenrothes has not been seen since leaving Styx nightclub in the town during the early hours of Sunday November 3.
Despite a high-profile investigation by police and numerous appeals by his family including a recent television appearance on This Morning no trace of Allan has been found.
Now, with just six weeks to go before the first anniversary of his disappearance, Allan’s parents, Allan Snr and Marie, say they intend to hold a public gathering at the venue where their son was last seen.
“Marie has been quite emotional recently,” Allan Snr told The Courier. “Obviously approaching the first anniversary it has been tough, but the police are looking into things.
“We’re going to bring some sparklers along for children but we didn’t want to use the fund to buy candles for everyone we couldn’t justify it.
“However, I’m hoping that people might bring candles in glass jars that they can hold. It might protect the flame from the weather if it’s not very nice.”
Mr Bryant said that over 270 people have already confirmed their attendance for the event, although this is expected to swell significantly in the coming weeks, with a Facebook group promoting the search for Allan Jnr boasting over 11,000 members.
In May, over 200 people took to the streets of Glenrothes to highlight Allan Jnr’s disappearance.
The large crowd was led by Allan’s mother, Marie, from Styx nightclub on Caskieberran Road to the town’s police station on Napier Road.
November’s event is set to feature images of Allan Jnr being projected onto a nearby building, with the Bryant family also keen to express their gratitude to the public for their support.
“It might be a bit cold but it should only last about 30 minutes,” Mr Bryant added. “We were thinking about another march but we didn’t want to bother the police again.
“They are working hard at the minute and will also be there at the vigil.”
The short gathering will take place in the car park of Styx, Caskieberran Road, on Sunday November 2 at 6.30pm.
