The most iconic section of HMS Queen Elizabeth has begun its journey from Portsmouth to Rosyth.
After leaving the dock hall’s basin, the forward island, containing the bridge, stopped overnight on the outer edge of the naval base ready to leave.
Paul Bowsher, QE Class project leader for BAE Systems in Portsmouth, said: “Today is a day of celebration.
“It is both an important and iconic milestone in the programme to build the nation’s new flagships.”
He said delivery marked a new and exciting phase in the programme, where the immense scale of the aircraft carriers will be seen as the first ship comes together at Rosyth.
