The 61-year-old passed away after being airlifted from the summit of Beinn Bhrotain, 13 miles south of Aviemore, at around 1pm on Tuesday. The unnamed climber, who was part of a walking group from Central Scotland, collapsed and injured himself, prompting a mountain rescue operation. An RAF helicopter was despatched to the scene and transported the man to hospital in Inverness, where he was pronounced dead on arrival. As details were beginning to emerge last night, Police Scotland said: “The 61-year-old man collapsed and injured himself at about 1pm. “He was flown by RAF helicopter to Raigmore Hospital, Inverness, where sadly he was pronounced dead on arrival.”
