Demolition of the former ATS building at the corner of St Catherine Street and Burnside in Cupar is now well under way ahead of ambitious proposals to reconfigure the traffic management system in the centre of the town.
The masterplan includes the widening of the road adjacent to ATS and the construction of a roundabout in front of the war memorial. It is also proposed that a new roundabout be constructed at the junction of East Road and Burnside.
Free movement of traffic will also become possible at the junction of the Bonnygate and Crossgate with the proposed relocation of the Cross from the middle of the road onto a nearby pavement.
Significantly, all the traffic lights at junctions in the centre of town will be removed with additional pedestrian crossings proposed.
