A courageous young cancer patient helped raise funds over the weekend to thank the Royal Hospital for Sick Children.
Although Holly Elder is only five, she has already had to endure two years of chemotherapy for a brain tumour and has been cared for by staff at the Edinburgh hospital.
The Fife youngster, who is in primary one at Ladybank Primary, has already raised £1,000 for the hospital’s cancer ward.
At the weekend Ladybank Youth Club was the venue for a family fun day, including appearances by some cartoon favourites. It was followed by a Zumba event at the Masonic Lodge in Ladybank.
Saturday’s fun day raised £1,968 while the zumba brought in £293.10. With other donations, this brings the total Holly has raised to £2,998.10.
Holly was born with a rare genetic disorder called neurofibromatosis type one, which can cause tumours to grow on nerves.
