The emergency services responded to a call that a person was in the water close to Shore Street, Buckhaven. The Coastguard received a call from the police around 12pm. The Kinghorn inshore lifeboat and the Kinghorn and Leven Coastguard rescue teams were scrambled along with the Rescue 177 helicopter from Prestwick. The red helicopter landed near the harbour but its services were not required. At 1pm the Coastguard spokesman confirmed the person was out of the water and was being attended to. An ambulance service spokesperson said the initial report they received from the police was of a body close to the edge of the water off Shore Street. The casualty was taken to the Victoria Hospital in Kirkcaldy and was “conscious”. No further information was available.
