Kirkcaldy child incident ‘not treated as criminal’
ByCharlene Wilson
Police Scotland say they are not treating an incident whereby a six-year-old girl was spoken to by a man in a car in Fife as “a criminal matter”.
Officers were called to the Chapelhill area of Kirkcaldy on Monday after a parent reported that her six-year-old child had been invited into a car by a male.
Local Inspector Alan Seath told The Courier however that he was satisfied the encounter was not of a sinister nature.
“Following a review of the incident we are satisfied that the incident was not an attempt to entice the child into the vehicle and we are not treating the incident as a criminal matter,” he said.
“We are still keen to speak to the male involved to confirm that this was an innocent encounter with the child and would encourage the male to contact us.”
Anyone with information is asked to contact 101.
