Saturday’s Dalgety Bay Pushkart Derby race has been cancelled after a lorry ripped a pothole on the homeward straight.
Organiser Mark Bennett said a lorry had left down a trailer leg that hacked a dangerous hole in St David’s Drive where the riders would race to the finish line.
He said: “The kids come down here to enjoy themselves. The last thing we want is for their mum and dad to have to cart them off to hospital because they’ve got scratches and bruises all over them after having an accident.”
However, the remainder of the festival, which will include a motorbike parade and a day-long music show headlined by Big Country, will go ahead as planned.
