Two pedestrians were injured after they were involved in a collision with a bus in Fife.
Police said a 10-year-old boy and his 20-year-old aunt had just stepped off a bus and were crossing the road when they were involved in a collision with a Stagecoach double decker bus going in the opposite direction on Sunday evening.
The force of the impact resulted in the front windscreen of the double decker being smashed.
The injured were both taken by ambulance to the Victoria Hospital in Kirkcaldy.
But despite horrified by-standers who witnessed the accident fearing the worst, police said their injuries were not thought to be life threatening.
Police said the boy “appears to be fine other than a few bumps and scrapes” whilst his aunt was receiving treatment for a possible fractured collar bone.
Police said it was understood the injured pair were local to the area.
The emergency services were alerted to the accident shortly before 5.50pm.
It happened on the main Burntisland to Kinghorn road, close to the entrance to Pettycur Bay holiday park.
The road was closed for several hours as the emergency services carried out their investigations. Local diversions were put in place. The bus involved in the accident had been moved and parked inside the entrance to Pettycur Bay.
The road re-opened at around 8pm.
A Stagecoach spokesperson said: “Our immediate thoughts are for the welfare of the pedestrians injured.
“Beyond that we will assist the police with their investigations in any way we can.”
