Ravenscraig Park will be the site of a new wildflower meadow as part of a project between Fife Council and conservation organisation Buglife.
The meadows are natural areas that provide important habitats for wildlife.
The three-year project, Fife’s Buzzing, aims to create 16 colourful wildflower meadows across Fife with the help of local communities and school children.
It is part of the council’s commitment to improve its green spaces in a fun and engaging way. More than £86,000 of funding was awarded last year by Heritage Lottery Fund and Fife Environment Trust for the scheme.
Craig Balfour, Fife Council’s area officer for the Kirkcaldy park, said: “This project is very exciting to be involved in, and I look forward to the joy that this biodiverse feature is going to bring to so many people.”
Scott Clelland, team manager for parks, streets and open spaces, said: “Biodiversity of habitats is an increasing priority for us all, and we’ll work with communities to make these areas a colourful and vibrant place to be.”
