An appeal has been launched to trace the owner of a seriously injured cat found in Glenrothes at the weekend.
The Scottish SPCA was contacted by a member of the public on Sunday after the injured feline was discovered on Cluny Place, in the Pitteuchar area of the town.
The male tabby cat, who has been named Geordie, is now in the care of the charity’s animal rescue and rehoming centre near Dundee.
Senior inspector Steven Grey said: “Geordie was discovered with a particularly bad open wound on his back end.
“He also had around 60 smaller wounds on his underside, is severely underweight and has numerous broken teeth.
“Geordie received emergency vet treatment and is now recovering in our care.
“At this stage we don’t know how Geordie sustained these injuries, even the vet could not say for sure.
“We would urge anyone who recognises him to get in touch with us.”
Anyone with information should call the Scottish SPCA on 03000 999 999.
