A wedding, reckoned to be among the most opulent held in Scotland, stunned onlookers.
The groom, Dundee businessman Umar Farooq Sher, arrived on a white horse behind a band of pipers and drummers to wed Saara Ramzan in a traditional Islamic ceremony.
More than 1,000 guests attended the two-day event at Fairmont St Andrews and saw the couple, both 28, gifted a high-performance Mercedes AMG sports car by their families.
Umar’s eldest sister, Surriaya Sher, said: “It was like a scene from a Bollywood movie.
“The horse was covered in red, as is traditional, and there were 15 or more pipers and drummers all dressed in kilts.
“People who were staying at the hotel came to have a look and were amazed.”
Hotel PR and marketing manager Jenna Falconer said: “Umar and Saara’s colourful wedding was one of the most extravagant we have hosted.
“A lot of hard work went into preparing for their big day but the end result was magnificent.
“People were fascinated to see the groom arriving on a white horse.
“We were delighted to host such a special occasion.”
