Disabled man claims he was ‘left to rot’ by care system in Fife

A disabled man says he has been “left to rot” after going without a shower for a month because he cannot bear a succession of strangers washing him.

Steven Christie, 37, of Kirkcaldy, has blasted his council’s “inhumane” home care system for leaving him to rot in his own home after he was tended to by 28 different carers in two weeks.

Now he believes he has been neglected by Fife Council who failed to send the same carers to Steven’s home last month.

Cindy Graham, service manager, said Fife’s Home Care service was focused on the importance of continuity of care.

She said: “We are working vigorously to deliver personalised care in line with best practice standards.”
