Police renew appeal for witnesses to fatal Fife road crash

Police have again appealed for witnesses to the fatal road traffic accident in which 16-year-old Brian Phimister, from Fife, died.
The tragedy happened around 12.50am on Friday on the A955 between Dysart and Coaltown of Wemyss when a BMW 3 Series left the road and smashed into a tree.
Brian, who was a passenger in the car, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The 18-year-old driver of the car sustained serious injuries, which are not thought to be life threatening, and was taken to Victoria Hospital in Kirkcaldy.
The road was closed until 4pm on Friday to allow emergency services to carry out investigations.
Inspector Brenda Sinclair said: “This was a serious road traffic collision in which a 16-year-old lost his life and my sincere condolences go to Brian’s friends and family.
“Our officers are currently pursuing various lines of inquiry to establish the full circumstances surrounding this collision and I’d urge anyone who can help with our investigation to come forward.”
