Fife passengers warned that train journeys will be affected by engineering works
ByThe Courier Reporter
Rail passengers in Fife are being urged to check their journeys during engineering works starting on Friday.
ScotRail has warned services will be retimed until Monday July 27 when the Winchburgh Tunnel near Linlithgow is closed for improvements.
Engineers will be working 24 hours a day to lower and relay two lines of track through the 30m-long tunnel and install equipment to carry the overhead power lines needed for the electrification of the railway.
The work is part of the £742 million Edinburgh to Glasgow improvement programme which will electrify services between the two cities by 2016.
Some trains on the Glenrothes line will depart at different times and will take longer.
