ByGraeme Ogston
A pensioner who died after being found face-down in a Dundee swimming pool was still alive when he was discovered, a fatal accident inquiry has heard.
Michael McDonald’s motionless body was pulled from the bottom of the Livingwell health club swimming pool after he was spotted in the water by a fellow gym member.
Staff at the gym, part of the now demolished Hilton Hotel on Earl Grey Place, performed mouth-to-mouth resuscitation on the 73-year-old from Newport.
Duty manager Margaret Dempster, 59, who called an ambulance, said Mr McDonald was “very white with blue lips” before CPR was but then “colour started to come up”.
The inquiry at Dundee Sheriff Court is expected to last two weeks.
It will look at the circumstances surrounding his death on November 25 2011.
