Return of Newburgh Highland Games hailed a huge success

Organisers of the Newburgh Highland Games hailed the event a great success after excellent weather brought the crowds out to the event at Robbie’s Park on Saturday.
The games had not been held since 2010 due to poor weather and lack of support but this year was a different story.
Chairperson of the committee June Williamson said: “We were delighted to welcome visitors from America, Germany, Holland, Australia and a good turnout of local people and games enthusiasts.

“The Highland dancers and the Cupar and District Pipe Band brought colour and music to the day and fascinated the international crowd.
“On the track the runners and cyclists competed well on a rather hard and bumpy track.
“I’d like to thank everyone who attended and the committee and the band of helpers who proved this year that many hands make light work and worked tirelessly to make the arrangements for the event.
“It’s proof again of the great community spirit we have here in Newburgh.”
