Police have confirmed that a body found at a Fife quarry on Friday morning was that of John McKay from Kirkcaldy.
The 18-year-old was recovered from Prestonhill Quarry by Inverkeithing, by divers, having been reported missing hours earlier.
The former Adam Smith College student had been with friends and it is understood at least three others jumped in to try to save him.
His death comes less than a year after Burntisland teenager Cameron Lancaster died at the same spot and a petition has been set up online calling for the quarry to be made safe.
Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding John McKay’s death and said yesterday enquiries were ongoing.
