Blind woman feels defenceless against Kirkcaldy’s angry seagulls

Seagulls are protecting their young as they leave the nest leading to plenty of angry encounters with the public.
Seagulls are protecting their young as they leave the nest leading to plenty of angry encounters with the public.

A blind woman has declared war on Kirkcaldy’s seagull population.

Sharron Taylor, 41, is fed up being attacked by aggressive gulls.

She said the “final straw” came on Monday at Kirkcaldy Retail Park when a gull repeatedly dive-bombed her head.

Sharron was walking with her guide dog Ushie, her five-year-old daughter Laura plus a friend and her three-year-old when the attack happened.

Contacting The Courier after having “no luck” with Fife Council’s environmental health department, Sharron, from Cardenden, said: “It’s almost like they have mobile phones. At first there were none, and then more and more would appear.”

It is not the first time Kirkcaldy’s seagulls have made the headlines. Peter Menellis previously told us of his problems after the winged attackers showed a liking for his steak pie.

Sharron is now calling on the council to organise a cull.
