A Dunfermline man who headbutted a bouncer after an altercation with his ex-partner at a nightclub has appeared in court.
Kevin Paterson, 34, of Birrell Drive, admitted that on September 29 at Life nightclub, Dunfermline, he assaulted Ewan Gillan by butting him on the head to his injury.
At Dunfermline Sheriff Court, depute fiscal Dev Kapadia said: “At around 1.20am door stewards became aware of an altercation between the accused and two females. They intervened and asked the accused to leave.”
The females were also being put out of the club but one of them knew the manager and he overruled the bouncers, the depute fiscal added.
He said: “This appeared to infuriate the accused, the fact that the females weren’t being ejected.”
After one of the doormen took hold of him, Paterson headbutted Mr Gillan, who sustained bleeding to his nose and bruising to his eyes and forehead.
Defence solicitor Stephen Morrison said his client’s version “differed slightly” in that he had been accosted by his former partner more than once during the night and she had struck him.
This had been seen by the door staff but the ex-girlfriend went to speak to the manager who was DJing that night.
Sheriff Michael Wood fined Paterson £250 and ordered him to pay £250 compensation to his victim.
