Now is the time for an old Dunfermline favourite to bloom again

A well-known face has returned to Dunfermline after a long time away.
For years visitors with time on their hands enjoyed the blooming spectacle of the town’s floral clock, which was originally installed in Pittencrieff Park.
But then it disappeared.
Recently, the clock’s mechanism was found gathering dust, forgotten and neglected, in a workshop at the park.
When a suitable spot could not be found in the park, it was decided to reinstate the floral clock outside the Carnegie Hall.
The new design was created by the council’s Keith Jackson, a Chelsea Flower Show and Gardening Scotland award winner.
Now newly restored it is being sponsored by Fife Council’s foster carer recruitment campaign.
City of Dunfermline committee chairwoman Helen Law said: “It is wonderful to see the floral clock back in bloom and on display giving pleasure to local people and visitors.
“Bringing the clock back to life, restoring it and helping the plants flourish is a great example of how a little care and attention can bring about a transformation.”
