A woman had to be cut free from her vehicle after a serious crash on the A92 in Glenrothes.
Emergency services were called to the scene between the Preston and New Inn Roundabouts at around 9.40am after reports a Peugeot 206 had left the road, collided with a lamppost and overturned.
Three fire crews from Glenrothes, Kirkcaldy and Lochgelly arrived on the scene and used cutting equipment to free the woman from the vehicle.
It is understood the woman was conscious and breathing when treated by paramedics at the scene, but she was taken to Kirkcaldy’s Victoria Hospital for further treatment.
Her condition is not yet known.
A spokesperson for the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said: “On arrival, firefighters worked to release the female occupant of the car and stabilise the vehicle which had struck a lamppost.
“Crews used a range of equipment including cutters, spreaders, two reciprocating saws and a winch to remove the roof of the vehicle and gain access to the occupant.”
The road was closed for some time in both directions, and diversions were put in place.
