Five illegal workers have been caught working in eateries in Kirkcaldy.
The four male and one female immigration offenders were found during Home Office Immigration enforcement action.
Officers visited Namaste Gurkha and Amritsar, in the High Street, and Double Happiness in Links Street.
A 26-year-old Pakistani man was arrested for overstaying his visa at Amritsar.
He has been detained while steps are taken to remove him from the country.
A 75-year-old Indian man was found at the Namaste Gurkha and was escorted from the premises.
He had overstayed his visa and has to continue to report to the Home Office while his case is progressed.
Two Chinese men, aged 38 and 40, and a 42-year-old Chinese woman were arrested at Double Happiness.
The 38-year-old was an illegal entrant and a failed asylum seeker, the 40-year-old had overstayed his visa and the 42-year-old was a failed asylum seeker.
They have all been released and have to continue to report to the Home Office while their cases are investigated.
Officials say none of those encountered had the right to work in the UK.
The businesses now face potential financial penalties of up to £20,000 per illegal worker.
Stephen Roarty, from Home Office Immigration Enforcement, said: “This is a clear warning to those in Scotland abusing our immigration laws.
“Employers who use illegal labour are defrauding the taxpayer, undercutting genuine employers and denying legitimate job hunters work.
“We are happy to work with employers who want to play by the rules but those who continue to flout them will face heavy financial penalties.”
