Colourful atmosphere as Kirkcaldy hosts Fife International Carnival

A taste of Rio spiced up Fife when entertainers from around the world hit the streets of Kirkcaldy.
Dressed in colourful costumes and spectacular headdresses, hundreds of musicians, dancers and street performers entertained crowds who turned out for the second Fife International Carnival.
Some 6,000 to 7,000 people are estimated to have enjoyed the event, organised by Jazz Scotland and supported by Fife Cultural Trust, Fife Council and Kirkcaldy4All.Click here for a full photo galleryActs from as far afield as Zambia, South Africa and Martinique flew in for the festival, joining performers from around Fife and Scotland.
The event swung into action with a parade along the High Street and continued through the afternoon on stages in the High Street and Town Square.
Carnival coordinator Anna Plant, of Jazz Scotland, said the day was “absolutely fabulous”.
“We’d love to do it all again next year,” she added.
