The discovery of human remains in a Glenrothes park could bring a measure of closure after 17 years of heartache, the mother of a local missing man has said.
Kenneth Jones was 18 when he disappeared from his family home in the town’s Ancrum Court on November 3 1998.
Despite searches and public appeals in the subsequent years, Kenneth’s family have received no confirmation of his whereabouts to this day.
However, following the discovery of bones in Riverside Park on Tuesday evening, his mother Maryanne has told The Courier that she wants closure on the torturous years she has endured since her son left without a trace.
Relatives of Wayne Fleming, who has been missing since February, and Allan Bryant Jr, who disappeared in November 2013, are also anxiously awaiting news in relation to identification of the body.
Meanwhile, police have confirmed that it was a group of teenagers that found the remains in the town park but are unable to state whether they can be linked to a number of missing people from the local area.
