Kirkcaldy firefighter Stevie McCrorie has been crowned the winner of The Voice.
The 30-year-old father of one from Alva, Clackmannanshire beat the other finalists Emmanuel Nwamadi, Lucy O’Byrne, and Sasha Simone.
His winners’ single was released at midnight on Saturday.
Stevie said on winning: “I can’t thank everyone enough for doing this to me.
“I never thought this was possible.
“After tonight it’s down to business with the single out at midnight. Just go and buy it!”
Stevie was joined in the studio by members of his family including brother Paul and wife Amy, who shed tears of joy and disbelief as he performed at the end of the show.
In Kirkcaldy, there was delight from his Scottish Fire and Rescue Service colleagues.
Harry Herd, who nominated him for the show last year, told The Courier: “I’m absolutely buzzing. I’m so chuffed for him. I can’t wait to congratulate him in person.”
Earlier, in the show opera singer Lucy warmed up while being fitted in to a show-stopping dress of copper wire and electric lights, which took an hour to put on.
The song list revealed the duets between the finalists and their mentors – with Rita Ora instead performing a lonely solo after her acts were booted off the show.
Lucy sang a rap and opera ‘mash-up’ of Habanera from Carmen with Will.i.am, Emmanuel and Ricky Wilson took on Seal’s Crazy, and Sasha and Tom will sang Chain of Fools by Aretha Franklin.
Former judge Danny O’Donoghue returned to the show to perform with his band The Script and the artist of the moment, Paloma Faith, made an appearance.
The four contenders had already recorded their own versions of the winning single, but viewers’ votes decided whose is released after they are declared the winner.
Their debut single will be available tonight, in a bid to cash in on the show’s success and provide it with a hit.
The BBC talent show has come up short in the past in its bid to match the success of acts created by The X Factor, who traditionally release a single immediately after the show ends.
Leanne Mitchell, who won the first series of The Voice, flopped when her debut single failed to reach the top 40 and her album missed out on the top 100.
This year’s winning track, which will be available from midnight, is a cover of Lost Stars, which was originally by Maroon 5 singer Adam Levine.
Executive producer Moira Ross said: “Having a track released on the night of the final adds even more excitement to the live show. I’m sure viewers will love the track – all four of our finalists are incredible singers and
have made their own mark on it with four very different interpretations.”
Will.i.am, one of the show’s judges, has previously criticised the programme for not having a record ready for release within days of the winner being announced.
