The health of a young boy struck by a van in a Fife village earlier this week is said to be improving.
The six-year-old was taken to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary following the incident in Aberdour on Tuesday evening.
His condition was originally described as serious but the boy, who is believed to be from Dalgety Bay, is said to now be stable and his injuries no longer life-threatening.
Eyewitness accounts suggest that the youngster ran out in front of the vehicle having been walking along the pavement on High Street with his father.
The collision happened at around 6pm on Tuesday, on a stretch of road exiting a double bend that spans the railway line.
Onlookers have told The Courier that the boy’s father was distraught as he watched first aiders provide assistance to his son.
The emergency services arrived soon after, closing the road for four hours as the youngster was treated before being taken to hospital.
Police are still looking for witnesses and anyone with information is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
