Windygates man avoids prison for indecent child images

A Windygates man caught with indecent images of children has avoided jail.
Roger Anderson, of Rolland Buildings, was placed on the sex offenders register for three years at Kirkcaldy Sheriff Court.
Anderson, 49, admitted that between August 26 2011 and November 27 2012, at an address at Cameron Bridge, Windygates, he took or permitted to be taken indecent photographs or pseudo-photographs of children, and also had in his possession indecent photographs or pseudo-photographs of children.
Anderson was also sentenced to not knowingly be in the company of any child under 16 for three years, to have his computer equipment monitored and not to delete any of his internet history.
Sheriff James Williamson said: “These are abhorrent offences and offences which would quite probably justify a custodial sentence.
“I’m taking into account that you are a first offender and that you offered assistance and information to those conducting investigations into such matters.
“This is the only opportunity that you get to comply. In the event that you fail, you will go to prison.”
