Some dogged Fife fundraisers were determined to defeat the Eggheads.
There seem to be no lengths to which intrepid fundraisers won’t go to try and raise money for Guide Dogs Scotland, even taking on the best quiz team in the world: BBC2’s Eggheads.
What happened when Team Walking the Dog met the Eggheads can be seen on Thursday.
If it was down to questions on puppy walking, fundraising and boarding, the team of Rae MacLennan, Rita Cornfield, Danny Rooney, Lynne MacLennan and Brian MacLennan would have had a distinct advantage. All are members of the St Andrews fundraising group and have been involved with Guide Dogs Scotland for many years and in a variety of roles.
Ally Taylor, from the Dundee fundraising group, was drafted in as team reserve. So, did they choose their battles wisely and win the day or did the Eggheads snatch victory in the sudden death questions?
The team members are giving nothing away and friends will have to tune into BBC2 and find out.
Team captain Rae MacLennan said: “My family and I watch it regularly and after a couple of glasses of wine one night, while trying to think of ways to make money for Guide Dogs Scotland, we thought we would go for it.
“As the day neared we were somewhat nervous but we enjoyed the day. As for the result, all will be revealed on the night.”
It is the second time the group has hit the headlines, as a golfing day at Drumoig Golf Resort, near St Andrews, raised nearly £20,000, which is enough to pay for the naming of three puppies and set them off on the road to becoming qualified.
