A Dysart man racially abused his former boss after an argument over the cost of a pint of milk.
Ryan Brennan, 21, verbally abused the owner of Tower Stores on Dysart High Street, where he used to work as a teenager.
At Kirkcaldy Sheriff Court on Tuesday, he admitted that on September 12, he acted in a racially aggravated manner to Raheem Aslam, making an offensive gesture and uttering a racially offensive remark.
Depute fiscal Louise Ward said: “The accused took milk from the fridge, approached the counter and put some money down before walking away.
“The complainer said he would have to count the money and the accused walked back and stuck up his middle finger before turning and walking away.”
The court heard when the complainer shouted at him again, he racially abused Mr Aslam.
Sheriff Alastair Thornton fined Brennan £160.
He said: “If there were to be any repetition of this issue, you can expect more stringent steps to be taken.
“From what I’ve heard, going into the shop creates something of a flashpoint.”
