Community council suspends activities after online abuse
ByThe Courier Reporter
The future of a Glenrothes community group is uncertain after members agreed to suspend all activities.
Peter Scobie, chairman of Pitteuchar, Stenton and Finglassie Community Council, has told The Courier that no further meetings are scheduled after he received abusive online comments.
Mr Scobie also said the group was not receiving sufficient outside support and said that continuing with the group would prove tricky unless there was a significant change in heart from council members.
An email was circulated last week notifying members of the cancellation of the community council’s February meeting.
However, this cessation would now appear to be permanent, with Mr Scobie saying that it would require a huge change in heart to get the group going again.
“I think the cessation will be indefinite but it all depends on certain things,” he told The Courier.
“We will have to call a public meeting but if many people are leaving then I doubt it can go on.”
