Residents of a Fife town are going loco over rubbish that is turning a railway embankment into an eyesore.
The stretch of the East Coast Main Line through Dysart is becoming increasingly cluttered with waste and residents have urged Network Rail to assist them in cleaning up the area.
However, the authority that maintains the country’s rail network, says it is unable to confirm when it may be able to clean up the stretch.
Eunice Cameron, chairwoman of Dysart Community Council, said there was a desire to have the area looking at its best ahead of an expected surge in visitors this summer.
“We are trying hard to clean up the whole of Dysart,” she told The Courier.
“People are wanting to spruce up the place as we are expecting more visitors than ever when Outlander is aired.
“Falkland and Culross were in this position last year and they have experienced a 20% increase in footfall there.
“We are just about to put up big banners at both ends of the town giving people directions to the places of interest.
“It’s so important that we get the place looking its best.”
Last summer Dysart was used as one of the filming locations for the hit television show Outlander.
With the series due to air in the United States this week, locals are gearing up for an influx of visitors from the US and elsewhere around the world.
However, keen to make the right impression, community leaders are calling on townsfolk and agencies to play their part in sprucing up the local landscape.
A spokesperson for Network Rail confirmed the company was aware of the request to clean up the embankment in Dysart, but was unable to state when collection teams would arrive to begin the clearance.
