A Cowdenbeath dog owner has been reunited with her pets after they fled an accident scene.
Marie Wells, 40, escaped injury when her car rolled twice on the town’s Stenhouse Street on Sunday.
Two of her beloved Chihuahua and Jack Russell crossbreeds ran from the car.
Following a Facebook appeal, which was shared more than 7,000 times, local people rallied round to help find the support worker’s four-legged companions.
And yesterday she was back together with all three of her dogs.
“I’m very grateful. I can’t thank everybody enough,” she said.
“They’re fine and back to their normal little mischievous selves.”
Miss Wells said her dogs were the first thing she thought about after her Renault Twingo spun out of control.
Only her oldest dog Alfie was still in the car after the accident.
Willow, who is 18-months-old, and Gizmo, who is just seven months, became scared and ran off.
“I was more worried about my dogs than anything else. I wasn’t worried about my car,” said Miss Wells.
“The paramedics were trying to get me to not move but I was looking for my dogs.”
Miss Wells, who was left with cuts and bruises, added: “After the accident, I went out looking for them and posted on Facebook about them being missing.
“I was devastated. I thought I’d never get them back.”
With the help of local people, Willow was found on Sunday night.
Miss Wells was reunited with little Gizmo after a kind- hearted resident handed him in to the local police station.
She added: “I would like to thank everyone for their help in my finding my dogs. It really goes to show that there are so many kind people out there.
“I’m still a bit shaken but I’m fine.”
