A 74-year-old man has been found guilty of a road rage incident in which another driver was forced off the road.
Frank Talbot was angered by the driving of the car in front of him.
He drove his Land Rover Discovery close up behind the Toyota Yaris, then gave a V-sign to the driver and his wife as he drew alongside.
The pensioner then cut across the Yaris, forcing its driver to take evasive action and mount a roundabout.
After trial at Dunfermline Sheriff Court, Talbot, of Preston Street in High Valleyfield, was found guilty of careless driving.
On May 28 in Queensferry Road, Dunfermline, he drove a Land Rover Discovery carelessly by driving too closely to the Toyota Yaris in front, drew level with it, making a rude gesture to the driver and passenger, then steered towards their car, causing the driver to take evasive action by mounting a roundabout.
Talbot told the court the Yaris initially “shot out” from a car park in front of him and later started braking “for no reason”.
He admitted making a V-sign, and said the driving of the other car “definitely annoyed me”.
He felt the braking was endangering his passenger.
Depute fiscal Azrah Yousaf said: “It’s not a mature way to behave, is it?”
Talbot answered, “I’m a wee bit bad tempered at times.”
Ms Yousaf said: “The anger gets the better of you and you swerved at him.”
“I don’t think I did anything out of order,” said Talbot.
Sheriff Charles MacNair found Talbot guilty of careless driving and imposed a £300 fine.
