Police investigating a schoolgirl’s claim that a man tried to lure her into his car had a highly visible presence on the streets of Kelty to mark one week since the alleged abduction attempt.
Officers were stopping cars on Main Street in the hope it would jog motorists’ memories about the events, said to have happened on the streets of the village a week ago.
Last Thursday, police issued an appeal for witnesses after the 12-year-old girl was allegedly approached and spoken to by a driver in Main Street at around 3.50pm last Tuesday.
The man was said to have been driving a small blue car when he is said to have stopped the girl.
Detective Inspector David Russell, who is leading the inquiry, said the driver of the car had allegedly stopped and offered the young girl a lift while she was walking home after school.
Although she was unharmed and there was no physical contact between the man and girl, she was alarmed and upset by his actions and ran home.
Her father told The Courier last Thursday he had also been left distraught by the ordeal suffered by his daughter.
He said it had “drained the life out of him” when his daughter told him what had happened and how it passed through her mind she might never see her parents again.
He said his daughter was now scared to walk by herself and his other daughter had been left frightened by it all.
Officers are seeking more information about the incident and have been speaking to people who may have been in the area in the afternoon.
Given Kelty is a small village, Detective Inspector Russell said people may have information which could assist with inquiries.
Anybody who can help with inquiries is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101 or speak to any officer.
