The parents of two Fife girls groomed by a “manipulative” paedophile have spoken of their anger after he forced the youngsters through a court ordeal by refusing to accept his guilt.
Paul Scally had made the girls pose for obscene photographs but his deception was uncovered when one girl told of the “systematic” abuse.
Scally, who had a black eye at a court appearance in Dundee on Wednesday after being assaulted in prison, was jailed for two years with a further three-year supervised sentence following his release.
Afterwards the girls’ parents said: “This has been a long time coming. We are really angry that he put the girls through appearing on the witness stand, especially with the overwhelming evidence against him.
“We couldn’t even speak to them about it because we were witnesses in the case.
“This has put a lot of strain on us all. One of our daughters still suffers nightmares.”
Scally, 34, had denied two charges under the Sexual Offences (Scotland) Act, one of possessing indecent images of children and one of taking or making indecent images of children at addresses in Fife between 2009 and 2012.
But a jury took an hour and 45 minutes to find him guilty of both charges.
Sheriff Elizabeth Munro also placed Scally on the sex offenders register indefinitely.
