British Transport Police are appealing for information about a “cowardly attack” on a passenger from a Fife train.
The victim, who was treated for a cut to his eye, was a passenger on the 9.22pm Cowdenbeath to Edinburgh Waverley train on Friday April 17.
A large group of men got on at Dunfermline and it is believed words were exchanged with another group of passengers who had been talking to the victim and his friends.
Just after 10pm, as the 18-year-old got off the train and was walking along platform 13 at Waverley, he was punched by one of the group of men.
CCTV showed the group of men heading towards Princes Street by the Waverley Steps.
The man being hunted is early to mid-20s, 6ft , slim and dark haired. He was wearing a cream jumper, shirt, tie, grey trousers, dark shoes and carrying a large wallet.
Detective Constable Paul Farquhar described the attack as cowardly.
